About Lviv
Lviv is situated in west Ukraine not far from the Polish border and whilst Kiev is the main administrative and political capital, the so called Soul of Ukraine is Lviv.
So many things have been written about the city its difficult to know what to write, unlike other cities in Ukraine this has a very western feel to it, you will not find in the centre lots of Soviet
Building or avenues, indeed the city has a very cozy feel to it, coffee shops, small roads and side streets abound, and you can live in the city years and still find something new to look at every day.
Lviv goes under many names, Lwow, Leopolis, Lemberg depending over who was in power at the time, the cities rich history goes back over 750 years although its certain that people were here long before that. It has been a Polish city for nearly 400 years then it saw about a Hundred years under the joint Austrian-Hungarian empire.
During this time the city went through some major reconstruction works as Oil was found near here, buildings sprang up everywhere so many people call the city little Vienna, many of the Art nouveau styles are here, with angels and cherubs and other mythical characters adorning the buildings.
Now its quite easy to get to the city with cheap direct wizzair flights from Europe . So now the city is wide open for tourism with countless Churches and Cathedrals waiting to be explored.
Its a compact city so getting about on foot is very easy, Lviv is also the cultural heart of Ukraine with many museums and galleries open to the public
The city boasts some wonderful parks and guided tours can be arranged of all the major sights.
Our flats are all exactly the centre, so you will not have a flat which is advertised as a ten minute walk taking actually an hour.
Most of our clients are just happy to walk about a bit and stop in odd cafes
bars etc picking up any history as they walk about from cake shop to bar etc.
The city has so many historical areas you will need a few days or more to see even some of them.
Many people come here on Business or just are interested to sit in the street cafes and listen to concerts or street performers, its often used to much but really its a hidden gem of a city.
If you are interested in the arts there is a world class Opera House and lots of theatres based here and Concerts are held most nights, we can provide you with a program in advance should you want to see something special.
